Abstract

The structure of teachers’ teaching expertise plays an important role in research of teachers’ professional development. The research aims to construct and verify the structure of teachers’ teaching expertise among primary and secondary schools in China. The study conducted Behavioral Event Interview and In-depth Interview with 25 Math teachers and a survey of 1123 teachers from 40 primary and secondary schools in each one city of Hebei and Shanxi province in China. The structure of teaching expertise includes knowledge structure, teaching monitor ability and professional developmental agency. The scale of teaching expertise can measure the level of teaching expertise accurately. The research confirms the multi-dimensional feature of teaching expertise and provides a scientific tool to measure teaching expertise.
