This proposal addresses the conceptualization of classroom teaching as experience. Relying on Dewey’s notion of experience and the inscriptions of experience through narrative inquiry, it presents the question “Can we understand classroom observations through narrative inquiry?” In order to answer the question, the study proposes to develop narrative inquiries from classroom observation data and proposes one example case. Narrative inquiries are then presented as a systematic form of rich representations of classroom events to make them accessible for classroom observation research and teacher education.
