Expanding Measuring Climate to Higher Education's Schools/Colleges: Developing an Instrument With Strong Technical Properties

Fri, April 28, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Hemisfair Ballroom 1

Abstract

Upon examining the plethora of scholarship studies about K-12 and higher education institutions, the researchers developed an instrument to assess climate at the School/College level. The methodological issues encountered and the strategies used will be addressed through sharing the steps in the process and the resulting instrument. Discourse in spent on the involvement of stakeholders, and the history school climate at this accredited institution in the northeast. The types of analyses and the rationale will be discussed. Lessons learned, implications for practice, and extensions to existing lines of inquiry are offered.
