This systematic review and meta-analysis comprehensively synthesizes evidence related to the influence of integrated science and mathematics and instruction on student learning and achievement. It updates a review conducted almost two decades ago (Hurley, 1999) and expands this prior research as it explores additional aspects and outcomes related to interdisciplinary science and mathematics education. Finally, this study examines descriptions and representations of interdisciplinary mathematics and science education embedded within the studies and compares these to existing models of interdisciplinarity. This comprehensive study serves to deepen our understanding of interdisciplinary science and mathematics education’s influence on student learning and achievement and to further conceptualize the concept of interdisciplinary instruction in these domains.
