In this paper we make a double move: we use a diffractive methodology as developed by Karen Barad to reject the claim made by Hein’s in his recently published paper ‘The New Materialism in Qualitative Inquiry: How Compatible Are the Philosophies of Barad and Deleuze?’ (2016) that the philosophies of Barad and Deleuze and Guattari are incommensurable. The ‘superposition’ thereby created makes it possible to do differences differently ‘between’ philosophies with implications for response-able critique in research.
