Graduating Isn't a Sure Thing: How Long Do the Effects of High School Social Support Last?

Sat, April 29, 2:45 to 4:15pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Hemisfair Ballroom 1

Abstract

Despite underrepresented minority youths’ high aspirations to college, their rates of postsecondary degree attainment remain persistently low. This nationally representative longitudinal study examines how school support from high school peers and teachers (Author 1, 2015) affects underrepresented students’ college matriculation and graduation to a college degree.
