This study focuses on the implementation of components of an early warning indicator and intervention system in twenty southern high schools. This team-based model includes a team of teachers, counselors, and student support services personnel, who analyze ninth grade student-level data, and implement and monitor interventions. The team is led by a half-time coach who establishes protocols for team operations and provides regularly updated early warning indicator data. This study demonstrates evidence of increased implementation of early warning and intervention components in the treatment schools over the course of two years. The findings also suggest that there remain significant challenges to facilitating the regular discussions among high school staff about student data and interventions for struggling students.
