Although Early Intervention (EI) providers are encouraged to coach caregivers of infants and toddlers with special needs using interactive observation and reflection, current satisfaction remains unclear. Caregivers (n = 195; 33% response) and EI providers (n = 66; 33% response) in an urban, home-based EI program in the Northeastern United States reported strategy use, extent to which others in their informal and formal support system are asked to use strategies, and perceived compliance with others implementing strategies. Caregivers also noted those providing emotional support and those supportive of EI services. Findings from survey and focus group data suggest providers must revisit coaching practices, explore variability in family support systems, and more intentionally empower families to foster carryover across key players.
