Abstract

This methodological paper is a theoretical engagement with consciousness-raising as a method and goal of social justice research. Building off and critiquing the Freirian distinction oppressor/oppressed in consciousness-raising approaches, I detail some ethical considerations of researching the oppressed, and structural difficulties of researching the oppressor.
