The Mestizo Latinoamericano as Dialectical Image: Upon and Beyond Modernity as Educational Project

Abstract

The work address the possibility of building a worldwide educational interdisciplinary field embracing intercultural dialogue. This intercultural dialogue makes unavoidable to situate our reflection beyond the limits of Eurocentric modernity and its educational deployment. Therefore, looking at Modernity from the perspective of a historia mundial, I suggest that Modernity’s dialectical image is the mestizo Latinoamericano. The mestizo latinoamericano is the primal image of the primal history of Modernity. Through its study may be possible to unfold the first and deepest source of the self latinoamericano as well as of Modernity as educational project. I situate y work within the tradition of the Latin American giro decolonizador, decolonizing turn, and specifically in the contribution of the Latin American pedagogy.
