Evaluation of Electronic Assessment Systems Used to Support Accreditation as Perceived by Assessment Coordinators

Abstract

The implementation and sustainability of comprehensive electronic assessment systems (EASs) in teacher preparation programs (TPPs) are key components to complying with national accreditation standards. This study investigated the benefits and shortfalls of three types of EASs (commercial, hybrid, and in-house) as perceived by assessment coordinators at 654 NCATE accredited colleges of education (COEs) nationwide. Net Promoter Score (NPS) was used as a metric to measure the loyalty of assessment coordinators to recommend their EASs to others. Participants in this study were more likely to recommend commercial EASs over hybrid and in-house systems. Out of the four most used commercial EASs, Chalk&Wire® had the highest NPS rating (88%) followed by LiveText® (64%), TK20® (47%), and finally TaskStream® (44%).
