The goal of this mixed method study was to assess the impact of coaching on student engagement and teaching practices. The study included 39 teachers who participated in twelve weeks of coaching. Student engagement grew significantly over the course of the study. Teachers attributed this growth to improved teaching practices. Coaching, continuous education opportunities, relationship with students, and focusing on student success were identified as sources of improvement. In addition to linking coaching with student engagement, teachers reported that coaching helped them embrace a learning mindset, grow in self-confidence, and increase student achievement. Furthermore, teachers reported that coaching impacted not only the delivery phase of a lesson, but also lesson planning.
