The Career Adapt-Abilities Scale: Measurement Equivalence in Japan and South Korea

Fri, April 28, 4:05 to 5:35pm, Grand Hyatt San Antonio, Floor: Fourth Floor, Republic C

Abstract

This study examined the measurement equivalence of the Career Adapt-Abilities Scale for a Japanese sample (n = 265) compared with a South Korean sample (n = 271). Our findings indicated that the CAAS subscales and the combined adaptability scale both demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency estimates for both groups. In addition, the four-factor structure and a general factor to explain substantial relationships among the four resources in South Korea was adequately replicated in Japan. We also found that Japanese participants were more likely to respond lower to most of the items on the CAAS than Korean participants. These findings extend this past measurement equivalence work with the CAAS to suggest the applicability of the CAAS to Japanese college students.
