This research is contextualized in a longitudinal Pre-service Teacher Education Reciprocal Learning Program, which is a part of the SSHRC Partnership Grant Project. It adopts Clandinin and Connelly’s (2000, 2006) narrative inquiry as the research methodology in the study. It aims to deepen understandings of how a pre-service teacher candidate named Guli tries to educate herself about the world and cultures around her via cross-cultural learning experiences and how she goes through the induction process in a minority school in West China. It identifies challenges and strategies, which the novice minority teacher has encountered in her first three years of teaching in West China.
