Public School Educational and Therapeutic Support for Students With Emotional and Behavioral Disorders

Fri, April 28, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Street Level, Stars at Night Ballroom 4

Abstract

This study examined the services of the Georgia Network for Educational and Therapeutic Support (GNETS) Program for students with emotional and behavioral disorders (EBD) in relation to the U.S. Department of Justice’s concerns about the GNETS Program. An action research design was used in the present study. The results from the Developmental Therapy Objective Rating Form-Revised (DTORF-R) indicate that each student in the program learned and improved their behavior through intensive intervention. However, ongoing behavioral support must be provided to those who had not stably and consistently displayed proper behaviors in order to help them be included in the general education environment successfully.
