A Review of U.S.-Based Testimonio Research in Education

Abstract

This literature offers a systematic synoptic rendering focused on US-based testimonio research in education that has developed to challenge Statesian and Anglophone bounds often assumed in US-based and English-speaking educational contexts. Emerging from the two US-based frameworks of the Latina Feminist Group and Delgado Bernal and her colleagues, US-based testimonio research in education presently provides a differently conceived of human science research epistemology with three main emphases: (a) research methodology, (b) critical pedagogy, and (c) critically re-configuring identities. The results of our review concisely summarize this differently conceived of research methodology with an emphasis on critical ethics. Targeting graduate students, particularly those from Latin@ descent, we emphasize the potentials of more literary-based testimonio for future research.
