Performance Assessment for Principal Licensure: Validity and Reliability Results From the First Two Years

Fri, April 28, 4:05 to 6:05pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 217 A

Abstract

This paper presents two years of validity and reliability results for one state’s performance-based assessments for principal licensure. The field trial (2014-15) enabled evaluation of the four standards-based assessment tasks as a system and the first year of statewide implementation (2015-16) enabled evaluation of the addition of cut scores and fee payments. The results for 700 candidates show that the assessments measure independent dimensions of leadership, differentiate candidates’ leadership knowledge and skills, can be reliably scored, and confirm the systems combined internal validity.
