Abstract
This study is an examination of a partnership between a Texas public school district and a higher education institute on a 15-month embedded principal internship. Within this district, 6 principal fellows from 5 different campuses participated in the internship program. The focus was to prepare aspiring principals with the knowledge and skills of the principal competencies while they engaged in real-world, day-to-day operations from a principal’s role. Interviews were conducted with the 6 principal fellows and findings revealed that educational background of the principals was effective in the principal fellow program. The study also found the areas in need of refinement for the future participating principal fellows can benefit.
