Knowing and Becoming: Constructively Disrupting Environmental Education Research With Worldview in Mind

Mon, May 1, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Hemisfair Ballroom 3

Abstract

In light of legitimate concerns about the quality of qualitative educational research, the purpose of this presentation is to create openings for discussion of major issues. Our intent is to merge the notion of paper presentation and workshop into a working group paper presentation centered on short scenarios that work to disrupt the linear logics and topic flows often taken for granted in the research process. Given the invitation to think creatively about session format, we propose participant engagement with strategically selected sticking points in qualitative research that have potential for researchers to reconsider approaches to qualitative inquiry in environmental education research at levels of theory and practice.
