Through collaborative autoethnography, Goleman’s Theory of Emotional Intelligence (2001) was employed to help us explore the emotions that are conjured as we interact on social media and receive faculty friends and colleagues’ posts or microblogs centered on their worklife, and how we manage and act on these emotions. Preliminary findings center on four themes: 1) imposter phenomenon; 2) increased motivation; 3) pushback; and 4) self-validation.
