Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to understand the design, development, and implementation process of the web-based vocabulary instruction tool and what kind of a tool is adequate depending upon the 8th grade visually impaired (VI) students’ needs. Under the Design Based Research (DBR) framework with qualitative approach, single-subject research design was carried out. Interviews were conducted with 16 students and six of them actively participated to thirteen implementation sessions. This paper presents findings from three rounds of a DBR study. Results showed that this tool was successful in increasing the achievement scores of students, improving the student motivation, attitudes, and decreasing the amount of time required to master vocabulary improvement.
