In this paper, I explore the intersections of personal narrative, critical analyses of individual and collective subjectivities, and critical pedagogies mindful of affective economies (Ahmed, 2004) as tools to interrogate whiteness and (re)imagine how solidarities can be nurtured in liberatory educational spaces. I examine the tensions and political implications that exist in the entanglement of queerness, whiteness, parenthood and teaching in order to more deeply understand the difficult labor of solidarity and coalition building in my own classroom(s) where I stand in the role of “educator”. This examination acknowledges the wisdom of youth as crucial knowledge producers in the collective efforts that are required to build authentic solidarities.
