Abstract

The field of education has long overlooked the academic discipline of theology in the name of secularization. Yet in the last thirty years, scholars have attempted to revive a focus on matters of the inner life. This paper aims to explore the richness theology has to offer by examining theology within our post-secular context and explore three theological discourses: Black Liberation Theology, Proleptic Eschatology, and Queer Theology. It concludes by asserting that theology is an equally valid form of inquiry for educationalists in to engage with in our pluralistic and diverse world seeking to eradicate social disparities that lead to marginalization and poor school outcomes.
