The Context of Inquiry: A Collective Exploration Into Teaching Practitioner Inquiry

Abstract

We are three critical, feminist practitioner scholars who met nearly a decade ago in a Practitioner Inquiry seminar who are currently working in a variety of distinct, yet overlapping, contexts. Through a phenomenological practitioner inquiry into practitioner inquiry we aim to better understand our own practice as we work to support the practitioner inquiries of teachers and school leaders. Emerging findings are revealing the importance of the personal in scholarly research and the knowledge generation that is possible when practitioners enact an inquiry stance. Additionally, we are uncovering the significant role of context and identity as it shapes not only our own practice, but also the inquiries of our students.
