Creativity is often included in conceptions of giftedness and as an identification measure for giftedness. Recently, creativity research has focused on the importance of creativity conceptions in the relationships to other factors. In this study, college-aged participants (N=224) indicated whether they had been previously identified for gifted education. A battery of six diverse creativity measures was used to generate a latent creativity variable. MANOVA indicated that nearly 10% of latent creativity could be predicted by gifted identification. Practical ideation measures and measures of creative production, rather than commonly used divergent thinking tasks, were found to most predictive of gifted identification. Further analysis suggested personality and intellect were quite important in generating the effects. Implications for researchers and educators are examined.
