A Case Study of Pedagogical Change in Adopting a Models-Based Approach to Teaching Physical Education

Fri, April 28, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 218

Abstract

This paper sets out to consider the pedagogical changes that occur in a physical education teacher’s move towards adopting a models-based approach to teaching physical education. Data from a longitudinal study on one teacher’s journey of developing models-based practice includes reflective diary, unit diary, post unit and post cycle reflective analysis, and student interviews. The stronger themes from preliminary analysis of the data include working toward facilitating a change in practice, sufficient time to consider changes in practice, and teacher and student prior learning.
