In this essay, Author 4 provides a synthesis of lessons learned over the years and combines them with key takeaways gleaned from his research and scholarship on inclusive pedagogy to provide a conceptual understanding of how college instructors can create racially inclusive classroom environments that allow for Black Lives to Matter in Traditionally White college classrooms. Specifically, he begins his presentation by reflecting on the current context of race and equity in higher education from a US context, making the argument for why putting critical and inclusive pedagogies into practice is still a pressing matter today. Next, he extrapolates the common core components of critical and inclusive pedagogical practices that have the potential to make Black Lives Matter in college classrooms and identifies several implications they have for creating racially inclusive, affirming, and equitable learning environments.
