Abstract

Approaches to teaching are an important factor for learning outcome but have not been studied within the context of further education. The goal of our study was to conceptualize approaches to teaching within the context of further education and to operationalize it by designing a measurement instrument. We conducted a qualitative pre-study to conceptualize approaches to teaching in the training context and to have a theoretically and empirically valid basis for the development of items. We then conducted a survey with 411 trainers. The future instrument will be developed by item analysis, EFA and CFA, to be used in prospective studies to better understand the role of approaches to teaching for the learning outcome in the further education context.
