The purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship between culturally relevant pedagogy (CRP) and the college-going engagement (i.e., their levels of motivation toward, knowledge of, and participation in processes that lead to college enrollment) of urban high school Students of Color (SoC). Urban SoC will be defined as non-white (e.g. Black, Latino/a, Asian American/Pacific Islander, Native American, etc.) students living in or around large cities and are of high poverty, low socioeconomic status. This work will investigate trends in their experiences with CRP and identify relationships between their college-going engagement (CGE) and their experiences with culturally relevant pedagogy.
