Supervision and Preservice Administrators: Using Technology (TeachLivE) to Strengthen Student Understanding

Fri, April 28, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Hemisfair Ballroom 1

Abstract

This study examined focused on an experiential learning activity for pre service administration students seeking principal certification. A total of 29 graduate students conducted pre conferences, walkthroughs, observations and post conferences through completion of a supervision project. Rather than work with selected teachers, post conferences were conducted in a mixed reality format with an adult avatar utilizing TeachLivE™. An analysis of a Likert scale and comparisons of open-ended question pre and post surveys showed student growth during two separate experiences in the lab. Students reported a greater understanding of post conferences and the supervision cycle on a whole.
