Homelessness is associated with academic disparities, especially among young adults entering adulthood. This study used the lens of youth social capital to analyze the practices that homeless young adults use to meet short-and-long term educational goals. This qualitative study interviewed 20 homeless youth 18-24 years old to identify the practices that support young people their educational goals. The findings indicate that homeless young people exhibit high -levels of resiliency and a desire to complete their education. The capital that homeless youth form through community-based organizations and networks allows them to acquire information, resources and support to meet their academic aspirations. The impact of youth social capital provides the critical information, resources, and support needed to transition successfully into adulthood.
