This paper details the findings of a study examining the supports classroom educators need for using games in the classroom. In particular, it looks at the barriers teachers face in implementing digital games and how they conceptualize game use with respect to student learning. Findings suggest that school boards need to ensure that teachers have the necessary tools and resources to effectively use games in their classroom. Much more work is needed to make certain that teachers conceptualize videogame use in the classroom in a manner that is productive to and impactful for learning: as tools that exist as part of a larger nexus of educative texts and around which a comprehensive curriculum can be developed.
