Sun, April 30, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Hemisfair Ballroom 3

Abstract

The study was designed to examine the practices of teachers’ reflection in relation to Teacher Competency Standards in Indonesia. The research involved eleven secondary teachers who claimed to promote reflective practice to some extent in their teaching. In the first phase, three teachers identified as descriptive, comparative and critical teachers were interviewed to gain a general perspective of the range and degree of reflective practice undertaken. The data were obtained by Interview conversations with participants about their understanding of reflective practice, supported by classroom observations (videotapes). The second phase focused on their comprehension and teaching practice to identify the extent of their reflective practice and how they engaged with the requirements of government policy and the teaching learning process.
