Beyond the Concerns-Based Adoption Model? Using Implementation Science for an Evidence-Informed Curriculum Implementation Plan in Trinidad and Tobago

Abstract

This paper reports on the generation of evidence for the construction of an implementation plan for the 2013 primary school curriculum in Trinidad and Tobago. Implementation science was used to provide an elaborate framework for gathering evidence and for constructing an implementation plan. Evidence was gathered using a mixed methods responsive evaluation of implementation practice. The integrated findings obtained were directly linked to five strategies, the centerpiece of the curriculum implementation plan. These are labelled as (1) teams, (2) marketing, (3) monitoring, (4) professional learning, and (5) leadership. For each strategy, goals, rationale, actions, actors, timing, dosage, outcomes, and justifications are specified.
