Abstract

Augmented Reality market is skyrocketing in the recent years, yet the AR enhanced educational applications still lack the instructional guidance to facilitate students’ learning experience, and there is a need to combine the AR contents with systematically designed instructional guidance tailored to meet learning needs. The purpose of this study was to design, develop, and evaluate the AR-PA (Augmented Reality with Pedagogical Agent) mobile learning system that enables upper elementary students to explore AR-enhanced interactive learning content on renewable energy. The AR-PA system consists of five 3D-printed touchable cubes and a mobile device that delivers multimedia content and 3D (3 Dimensional) models. The developed AR-PA system was evaluated for usability and educational effectiveness by analyzing students' cognitive involvement and achievement.
