A case study was conducted in a social studies methods course to explore a university instructor’s experience of promoting pre-service teachers’ reflection using video cases and his pre-service teachers' perception and experience in using video cases for learning and reflection. The data included classroom observations, participant interviews, curriculum documents, and student artifacts. Findings indicate that the instructor focused on modeling and questioning during case-based instruction to facilitate pre-service teachers’ reflection. Implications are discussed in terms of designing meaningful case-based learning experiences to promote critical reflection in teacher education.
