The Impacts of No Child Left Behind on Principals' and Teachers' Decision Making: A Longitudinal Study

Sun, April 30, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: River Level, Room 7D

Abstract

Since No Child Left Behind (NCLB) was implemented, its impacts on school decision-making were rarely examined empirically. This study complements the existing research by investigating NCLB’s impacts on principals’ and teachers’ influences on school decisions and teachers’ controls over classroom decisions. Our preliminary findings indicated that NCLB eroded principal leadership in terms of principals’ influences on school decisions. Findings on NCLB’s impacts on teacher influences and controls will be presented in the full paper.
