This inquiry examines the effect of student trust on discipline and academic outcomes, and how this varies by race and gender, with a focus on African American males. Research has demonstrated that trust in schools is a vital educational resource. Yet we know little about how trust varies by race or gender. This inquiry tests whether trusting relationships pay off equally for all students.
