An Exploration of Third Graders' Epistemological Thinking While Using iPad Science Applications

Abstract

The purpose of this qualitative paper is to explore third grader’s epistemological thinking while using iPad Science application. Few studies have been done on children’s use of iPad application and positive development. However very few has been done on children’s epistemological thinking while using iPad science application. The paper argues that iPad use in the elementary science science class make children more engaged and independent learner. iPad promote cognitive interest and support cooperative learning among children. Children engage with iPad and using developmentally appropriate application help to develop their schemas which subsidize children in their early epistemic thinking.
