When developing executive leaders at the doctoral level, it is critical to ensure they are receiving the skills needed to be practitioners. One critical area of practice is the ability to identify and solve problems. This paper provides an overview of the method used to identify problems that are facing the community colleges. The paper frames problems in the Achieving the Dream student focused model as well as student success with the integration of continuous improvement and high quality. Findings from this study show some issues facing the community college and that to be relevant to the community college leaders, those being prepared for executive leadership, should be addressing these types of problems in their preparation.
