This study addresses improving student‘s engagement with school as a socio-emotional support for student achievement and an important component in the efforts to support equal educational opportunity for all students. The paper features recent development of a web-based version of the multi-dimensional Student Orientation to School Questionnaire (SOS-Q). We demonstrate significant associations between student orientation to school and academic achievement and support the case for integrating non-cognitive measures of social determinants of student success seamlessly within comprehensive student information and assessment systems.
