As higher education institutions diversify their enrollment, narrowly tailored support mechanisms must be developed to meet the unique needs of historically under-represented learners. The researchers in this study engaged in a focus group study that allowed the students at a Hispanic-serving baccalaureate nursing program to engage in dialogue that influenced the design of support resources provided through the institution’s student success center. The researchers’ findings suggest that nursing students in this particular program needed help with anxiety mitigation through enhanced support – delivered in the form of supplemental instruction, peer mentoring, personal tutors, and academic skills enhancement workshops.
