Abstract

The purpose of this study is to understand how parallel changes in policy environments surrounding schools in the US and Denmark, impact their respective environments through the translation and implementation of policy into practice. This study examines CALL items that were translated from English into Danish and the process through which research scholars interpreted policies applied to changing practice. In this study, we conduct a document analysis using data from the collaborative process of translating and implementing the US version of CALL into the Danish context. From our preliminary analysis, we identified three codes that informed our translation process: (1) local school context, (2) the functional and professional role of pædagogues in Danish schools and (3) the Danish school reform.
