Abstract

As the demand for high-quality online courses increases, research should be conducted to explore artifact-driven online collaborative environments. This study examines an online platform, eLearning Management System (ELMS), and its use in the facilitation of online classes focusing on the arts. This environment allows students to collaborate and communicate by posting images, videos, and text for their peers to review. Students are able to respond and critique in a similar fashion. Although our research looked specifically at critiquing in the arts, many of these techniques are applicable in other disciplines. The purpose of this research is to explain how to leverage technology to support critiques and collaboration to increase the quality of artifacts and enhance the student learning process.
