This paper explores critical peace education as it is informed by the dialogical method of emancipatory education, and scrutinizes the promising potential of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) as an essential tool for on-going research in the field. Towards this goal, after a discussion of the potential of Freirean dialogue and CDA, a sample data from a peace education setting is analyzed by employing dialogical-relational approach (Fairclough, 2001). The final section discusses what this sample analysis suggests for the ways CDA might be used to inform this new field of scholarship. The possible affordances and limitations for employing CDA in the study of critical peace education are also briefly discussed.
