Abstract

The present study explores how the types of professional development activities for multicultural education are associated with teachers’ multicultural competencies (multicultural teacher efficacy; multicultural attitude) in South Korea. This study conducts a series of hierarchical linear modeling analyses based on a nationally representative sample of about 1,011 teachers across 43 schools in South Korea. Results of this study show that ‘engaging in informal dialogue with colleagues’; ‘online training programs’; ‘courses/workshop’ are significantly associated with South Korean teachers’ most of multicultural competencies. Based on these result, we suggest practical implication to educational policy makers and school principal in South Korea.
