The study investigates co-teachers’ perceptions about data use. This paper focuses on four co-teaching dyads teaching in different schools within the same high-need urban school district. The research questions addressed are: 1) What types of student data do co-teachers use? 2) In what ways do co-teachers approach data similarly and/or differently in the co-teaching process? 3) How does school context for data use affect co-teachers’ use of data? Data analysis reveal that the co-teachers employed various data sources to help them co-plan, but find the “day-to-day” data most useful. Similarities and differences in data use by co-teachers exist. Additionally, the study suggests that school-mandated assessment tools and administrative support can either facilitate or hinder the co-teachers’ meaningful use of data.
