Latina immigrant mothers co-construct new sites of advocacy for their children as they participate in Madres para Niños (MpN), a 10-week, school-based parent involvement program that uses consultee-centered consultation. Mothers serve as consultees and consultants to each other, solving problems and making meaning of their role in the geographies of the New Latino South. We describe how mothers challenge school practices and policies that erect barriers to their involvement, and re/author selves as they define and amplify their voice on behalf of their children.
