Sun, April 30, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Hemisfair Ballroom 1

Abstract

The study reported in this paper was conducted as part of a larger faculty residence project in which teams of university faculty conducted field-based research situated in the context of high need urban schools. The primary purpose of the study was to determine how well a group of secondary education student teachers were prepared in the use of technology for differentiated instruction in teaching diverse learners in high-need, high-poverty schools in a large metropolitan school district. A second and related purpose of the study was to examine the extent to which the university coursework (i.e., the special education course) supported the student teachers in strategically implementing technology to make the curriculum more accessible and engaging for all learners.
