This philosophical inquiry looks at arts equity as praxis. It weaves together political, feminist, and critical race theories as well as cultural studies to provide analytic insight into the material, symbolic, and experiential dimensions of justice in the arts and arts education. I use critical race theory's counterstory-telling methods to build an analysis of a composite teaching case. The story illustrates how elusive arts equity can be and, at the same time, the responsibility all arts educators have to develop the capacities for justice within their classrooms.
